Jürg Schleier, Country Manager DACH at Spitch, spoke at the regular Voice Meetup Zurich event – a platform for the exchange of views between corporations, startups and enthusiasts on the topic of Voice User Interfaces.
In his speech “Speech Recognition for Swiss German - Quo Vadis?”, Jürg Schleier covered one of the most typical issues for Switzerland: the problem of speech recognition for the various Swiss German dialects. He also presented the Spitch approach to addressing it. Jürg shared with the participants some examples of Spitch’s speech recognition solutions. E.g. in one of the leading credit card companies, the IVR system is now able to answer the customer calls and understand the reason for the call automatically. Spitch’s engine understands the spoken language and interprets the semantics to make sure the system understands the reason of the call, which is spoken by the customer in Swiss German dialects. Based on the recognized call reason the call is automatically routed to the right customer service representative best qualified to respond. The agent receives a call along with a pop-up window containing a short description of the call reason.
